Omnibus Regulation VI published – further cosmetic ingredients prohibited as of 1st December 2023

Regulation (EU) 2023/1490 has been published on 20th July 2023[1]. It is the 6th CMR Omnibus Regulation, introducing a list of 30 new entries to Annex II (Ref. No. 1695 – 1724), representing substances recently classified as CMR (“carcinogenic”, “mutagenic” and “reprotoxic“) 1A, 1B or 2 through the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/692 [2].

The prohibitions finally enter into force on 1st December 2023 after which cosmetic products containing one or more of these substances shall no longer be placed and made available on the EU market.

The newly prohibited substances possessing an INCI name are the following:
